Snezhana Peykova is a visual artist interested in immersive storytelling through the relationship between text, image and sound with a focus on turning still imagery into moving image. Guided by intuition, she brings together time-based visuals, photography, scanography, and performance to encapsulate emotions such a nostalgia, grief, melancholy, and desire.&#38;nbsp;

Deeply rooted in the music world, her work often lives at the intersection of sound and image—ranging from band press shoots and stagewear to music videos, and live gig visuals.

Known for her romantic and otherworldly aesthetic, 

her art draws on themes of grief, nostalgia, and longing—often using her own body and face as a medium in self-portraiture to bridge intimacy between artist and viewer. This practice has also given her a grounded understanding of both sides of the camera. She has directed music videos, exhibited internationally, and created theatre costumes featured at the Brighton Fringe. As both a creative director and event photographer, Peykova’s work lives at the intersection of myth, memory, and music.

Snezhana Peykova is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of sound, vision, and storytelling. 


Throughout her creative journey, she has immersed herself in video art in the form of short films and music videos, collaborating closely with clients to sculpt evocative visual identities. 

In the borderlands between music and vision, Peykova builds worlds. Drawn to the soul of sound, she moves fluidly between costume and camera, between pigment and performance. 

Working across creative direction, makeup artistry, and filmmaking, she believes that each frame should tell a story.&#38;nbsp;


Her process-led approach
aims to create an experience for the spectator by working with atmosphere and mystery, rather than defined narrative. Peykova has a curious and playful approach to every project. 

Her self-portraiture— often described as intimate, romantic, otherworldly, and haunting—is central to her practice, bridging the distance between creator and viewer, and deepening her understanding of performance in front of the lens.
 

Her visual work—both film and photography—has been showcased in international exhibitions across London, Glasgow, Rome, Dresden, and Sofia. Her costume design has extended into theatre, including work featured in a Brighton Fringe Festival production.


Peykova is also a chronicler of live performance—an instinctive photographer and videographer capturing moments from underground gigs to international festivals. Once the force behind exhibitions, open mics, and poetry nights in her hometown, her roots in community and collaboration still echo softly through everything she creates.


Part director, part designer, part witness—Peykova’s work is where the imagined becomes tangible, where sound meets sight and is weaved into reality.

“Catch me if I run. A song full of emotion, perfectly combining the excitement of a restless brain and the constant chase for dopamine disguised as peace. Similair to a rose that lures you in with it’s delicate petals but hides thorns under the leaves. A visual metaphor symbolising the exhaustion of feeling everything too much.The song has calming yet haunting vocals that I visually translated to the single cover art through the layered composition and usage of mixed media techniques. The collage look also suits Amber’s visual identity.
“Playing with roses“ is the best way to describe the approach. We’re collaborating, letting our creative intuition guide our creative decisions. We started with a location photoshoot for some source images to then play further with in post-production through scanning and collaging. During the post-production process I remembered someone describing ADHD as having multiple tabs open and that’s the final composition we decided to focus on. With each window having its own name corresponding to the different sides of life with ADHD.”

“Wasteland. Missing someone that only exists in your head. “Left me in the dark“. Night scene. Strange things happen at night - a time of illusions, dreams, loneliness. “I’ll follow you anywhere“ - like a siren’s call. Her voice invites you into a world that doesn’t exist only “to tighten the noose“. “Moon girl,” - pulling you closer and pushing you away like the tide, “take me home. I only feel alive when I’m with you“ - the sea and water as a symbol of life and home - where we all came from.

Other ideas mentioned: abandoned places - as much as I am in love with this idea, abandoned places are not the easiest to access in the UK but I can try my best to recreate the feeling of loneliness and abandonment in a different way.”


I scheduled a photoshoot with a model on Sunday 6th of July on Brighton beach. Due to the bad weather on that day, we decided to start the photoshoot a bit earlier and get as many shots as possible before it started raining (or we drowned in the high tide). However, getting there early meant the sun was still out and we couldn’t get the imagery we were going&#38;nbsp; for. After struggling with the lighting for a while and trying a few practical effects to make the images appear like they were
taken at night,, it actually got dark enough to achieve the desired effect. We then
proceeded to retake all the images we had&#38;nbsp; already taken. Since the time frame we
had was only between 9:40pm and 10:15pm, it was quite useful to have
tried multiple angles and poses before
it got dark. We were very lucky to
have avoided the rain!

Then, I proceeded with picking out the best images that compliment the meaning of the song in the best way. I chose compositions that play with the idea of power and control, mystery and secrets, double-facedness, refusing to see the truth.


	I printed out the title of the song and scanned it while moving

the sheet of paper to create a distorted effect, and then added it to the chosen compositions.

Having seen some of the headwear I had done for various projects, the creators behind “The Angel of Death Will See You Now” contacted me with a request to make headdresses for the main character and the choir who acted as helpers of the Angel.

The Angel headdress had lace details with glass stones to reference the eyes of a biblical angel without being too obvious. The soft feathers matched the wings she was wearing 
while the spikes created a beautiful halo-like effect over her head - those two visual elements reflected the scary but playful and caring nature of the Angel.

We went for a more simplified&#38;nbsp; design for “The Sisters of Mercy” based on one of the first headdresses I ever made as it was comfortable to wear for a prolongued period of time yet still creates a very recognisable silhouette. The spikes and the lace matched the headdress that the Angel was wearing. I came up with a few shapes for the black headdresses to give each member of the choir a unique silhouette.

The headdresses contributed to the choir being described as “musical helpers from above and the strange creatures who looked after” the audience by Theatre in Brighton, and Fringe Review mentiones them as “earthy choir of mature goddess-angels“.

OFFICIAL VISUALISER FOR PEARLL

	
Visualiser for Pearll's song "Hate It". Celebrating the 1 year anniversary since the release of the single.
"The visualiser captures the evolution of Pearll as a band and performers which reflects what the song “Hate It” means for the band. The process contains documentive footage, mixed media collages, stop motion animation, boil animation, and animated photography. The band also provided some promotional footage they had shot prior to making the visualiser that we decided to include in the final edit.

This is one of the most spontaneous projects I've ever done. Everything from the concept and filming to the final edit has been an ongoing process led by the song itself, lyrics, rhythm, and melody. An exciting experiment that I had no expectations for.

	Following the visual treatment provided by Charlotte, I created moodboards for each setting and character that covered the set design, 
character outfits and make-up, lighting, camera angles, and visual effects.&#38;nbsp;


For the live performance setting, I used the band’s promo photos as inspiration as I believe it is important to reflect theirvisual identity. Earthy tones and blurry shots. 
Unfortunatelly we didn’t have much control over the lighting at the show but we managed to capture the overall atmosphere.

For the bedroom scenes, I created two contasting settings and character designs that also complimented each other. Keeping both rooms cosy and whimsical, Chloe’s character is a musician and songwriter, while Ali’s character enjoys painting and fashion. 
We kept Chloe’s bedroom as it is - with the band posters, tapestry, guitars, etc., lit it in warm toned lighting and added fairy lights and a sunset lamp to complete the mood. We chose clothing from her wardrobe, and kept her look natural. 


	Ali’s character is elegant and colourful, influenced by the 70s and heavily inspired by The Love Witch. Whimsical and artistic, she wears bold, sparkly and colourful make-up, and has tons of jewelry.Her bedroom walls have drawings on the walls, tapestry above the bed, paintings on canvans on the floor, a vinyl collection (Including Hey, Honey by Pearll), candles in bottles, sketchbooks, flowers hanging upside down on the walls, vanily table that also serves as a desk because why not, scattered watercolour pallets mixed with eyeshadow pallets. She is the Art and the Artist.

I built the set from skratch in my photography and film studio. I started by adding some hand-drawn pieces on the wall. dry roses hanging upside down, handwritten quotes from the song lyrics. I made a vinyl sleeve for “Hey Honey!” that I added on the wall. I also made an abstract neon sign using el wire. Then I added the dressing table, sketchbooks, paints, make-up, easel, and gathered the rest of the props. Special thanks to Marielle Serbest for providing the beautiful paintings for the set! Finally, I added a clothing rail for the clothes provided by Alouette and I.


I was asked to step in as the gaffer and join the camera department on the shoot days because of crew shortage. For the lighting, I used softboxes as well as two RGB battery powered lights to cleate the moody lighting. During the filming process, I focused on drawing parallels between the characters.

	Moving on to the club scene where the two characters meet each other, I wanted the lighting to reflect the two characters. We started the scene with pinks and purples and shifted to pink and orange. We used a wash light and two battery powered RGB lights, one of them with a strobe effect, to achieve the desired look. During the filming process, we focused on capturing the overall atmosphere, shots of the crowd, and interactions between the two characters.

Music Video for Logan J Parker's song "The Moon Is Calling Your Name".
"What I love the most about this video is the fact that it can be interpreted on many different levels. Maybe it is just a visualization of the dream we hear about in the song? A dream about someone who may or may not even exist. It could also be seen as a love story between the main character and the Moon, the Moon being someone we all aspire to be. 
My favourite interpretation is the idea that we’re all blinded by what we are searching for. We often seek the answers outside, from different people and different places, and forget to look within. The Moon is calling us to reveal our true self and stop hiding behind a blindfold. That is when we finally wake up from the dream and life can truly begin. A nice little touch suggesting that is the Moon Tarot card which symbolises revealed secrets. Finally, I like to leave the viewers asking questions: who is the Moon, who is being called, who is dreaming, and what if we as spectators are all three?”Visuals by Snezhana Peykova
